4-H Dressage and Western Dressage Clinic 2025

Clinician Stacia Allen: Stacia has almost 40 years of experience in the equine industry. Stacia specializes in Dressage, she is currently a USDF bronze Medalist working towards her Siver and is hoping to compete this session at the FEI (International levels) Pre Saint George and I-1. Stacia has a passion for Dressage, but firmly believes that good riding is good riding no matter what tack you are in. She enjoys bringing and applying dressage principles to many other disciplines including eventing, driving, western, hunters and working equitation. This helps to make her well rounded in her teaching style. Stacia loves working with riders of all levels, from very beginners to riders prepping for national competitions and helping them reach their goals.
Clinic Objectives: Introduce riders to dressage basics and principles with the use of good biomechanics. Learning balance and geometry of the dressage movements. An introduction of ways to improve bend,contact, transitions and lateral work.
This clinic will offer three levels of riders, riders will be placed with others of their level in groups of 2-5 riders session.
9:00am-10:30am
Walk/Trot- Introductory levels A&B. This session will focus on placement of the movements in the arena, when and how to use your corners, transitions in and out of trot, tempo control, free walk, and square halts. A basic discussion of proper tack and show ring etiquette.
10:30am-12:00pm
Walk/Trot/Canter- levels Intro C to Training level 3. This session will focus on showing rhythm, freedom and regularity in all three gaits. A more comprehensive look at contact and steadiness on the bit, and suppleness over the back. Geometry, why it is important. Introduction to stretch trot. A basic discussion of proper tack and show ring etiquette.
12:00pm-1:30pm
Intermediate/Advanced- First, Second,Third levels. This session will focus on balanced lateral work. Increasing the bend on smaller circles. Developing more thrust and push from the horse’s hind leg to develop medium and collected gaits. Improving lateral and longitudinal suppleness. Introduction to turn on the haunches.

A current Coggins with a copy are required to be turned in when you check in the morning of clinic. Also, please do not forget to have your Premises ID number with you as well.
