Clinic Objective: The purpose of this clinic is to help Western and Ranch participants practice skills in showmanship, pleasure, horsemanship and ranchmanship in a group setting with rail work and individual patterns. Unique differences between Western and Ranch will be discussed. Participants will ride in the following groups and are limited to 15 riders per session.

Session 1 – 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM Showmanship – Preparing for patterns and executing typical maneuvers. Review show ring etiquette.

Session 2 – 1:45 PM – 3:15 PM Walk Trot Horsemanship, Ranchmanship, and Pleasure – Limited or some experience with walk and trot transitions and proper diagonals but are still developing skills, or intermediate/advanced riders that have novice/green horses.  Review show ring etiquette.

 Session 3 – 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM Walk Trot Lope Horsemanship, Ranchmanship, and Pleasure – Intermediate or advanced skill level to include riding rail work and patterns at a walk, trot, and lope, using leg yields, riding circles and 360 degree pivots.  Review show ring etiquette. 

This educational event is open to all youth and is free.

***2026 COGGINS: A Original and one copy is required the day of the clinic to participate. Premises ID also required. ***

 Proper attire is required for participants: Boots, long pants, and SEI approved helmet. 

Auditors DO NOT need to pre-register but must sign in on the “Auditors” sheet at the clinic. 

Complete one form for each youth attending even if the horse/pony is shared.
