4-H Nature Detectives – Trees and Leaves

Have you ever wondered how to tell one tree from another or what secrets are hidden in the leaves above your head? Join us for an outdoor adventure in the teaching gardens surrounding the 4-H Office as we become nature detectives for the day!

During this hands-on program, youth will learn how to identify common trees using clues such as leaves, bark, seeds, and growth patterns. We’ll explore the gardens and investigate tree characteristics. Along the way, participants will take part in interactive leaf and tree-themed activities.

Whether you’re a budding naturalist or simply enjoy spending time outdoors, this exploration will help you see the trees around you in a whole new way. Come ready to explore, investigate, and uncover the stories growing right outside our door!

Recommended for youth in K-12 who enjoy nature, exploring outdoors, and hands-on learning! Youth in Grades K-5 should be accompanied by an adult. Adults are encouraged to attend with youth of all ages.
