Dane County Receives $55,000 Annual Federal Grant to Support Free Income Tax Site

Exciting news! The Dane County Department of UW Extension has secured a $55,000 annual federal grant to support the Richard Dilley Tax Center, enhancing free income tax preparation services. The center, in operation for 22 years, has provided invaluable assistance to low to moderate-income individuals, filing over 2,500 returns in 2023 alone, resulting in $3.71 million in refunds.

Executive Joe Parisi highlighted the significance of the center and expressed enthusiasm for expanding its impact with the IRS grant. To achieve program objectives, Dane County will hire a site coordinator and appointment scheduler. Over 70 volunteers contribute each year, fostering a collaborative effort with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and the UW Madison South Partnership Office.

The Center, located at the UW-Madison South Partnership office, operates from late January to mid-April, offering not only tax assistance but also essential financial education. Learn more at: https://dane.extension.wisc.edu/the-richard-dilley-tax-center/
