The Jefferson County 4-H Dairy Committee is hosting an educational session for youth in the Dairy Project by taking them on farm tours on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The youth will be touring two farms to learn more about the technology used in today’s industry along with other management practices. The group will be touring Sunshine Genetics in Whitewater and Larson Acres Inc. in Evansville.

Cost: Your Lunch – there will be no cost for anything else

This tour is open to all 4-H Dairy Project members and their families in Jefferson, Dodge, Dane, Walworth, Waukesha and Rock counties. 

The group will leave Jefferson County Extension Office , 864 Collins Road, Jefferson WI at 8:00am and head to Sunshine Genetics (9:00am-11:00am) to tour their facilities and then head to Evansville to Tour Larson Acres Inc. at 1:00pm. The group should return to Jefferson around 4:00pm. The tours will highlight new technology used in today’s Dairy industry along with a tour of a museum at Larson Acres. 

Transportation will be determined based on the number of people attending (if we have enough for a bus) otherwise people will be meeting at the Jefferson County Extension office and carpooling.  Lunch will also be determined by the number of people planning on attending. More information on transportation and lunch will be sent out after the March 25 deadline.
