We’re excited to share that applications for the 2025-2026 Youth Governance Program (YGP) are now open!

This is a great opportunity for high school-aged youth in Dane County to serve alongside elected officials on County Board committees, share their perspectives on community issues, and build leadership skills and confidence. Youth who participate gain a better understanding of how local government works and grow as leaders.

“The Youth Governance Program gives students the opportunity to play an active role in advancing Dane County initiatives, ensuring that the perspectives of Dane County youth are heard and valued in shaping their own futures,” said County Board Chair Patrick Miles.

To apply, students must currently be in grades 9–11 and be entering grades 10–12 in the fall.
