Topic:
Crochet charts & patterns – Learn how to decode written crochet patterns as well as the symbols used in crochet charts.

You are…

  • Beginner if… you have never crocheted before or you are still getting the hang of holding the crochet hook, chaining, or doing simple stitches in a row.
  • Intermediate if…you are confident holding a crochet hook, doing simple stitches in rows, and are ready to work on simple to more complex patterns and projects.

Please bring…

  • Crochet Hook (size G, H, or I) – Some crochet hooks are available to borrow and/or purchase for $3
  • (Optional) Yarn – Yarn supplies will be provided for beginners. Some yarn will be available for intermediate projects.
  • (Optional) Your own completed crochet project – If you would like to show off something you have made, be prepared to share 1-2 minutes about your project and answer a few questions.

Volunteers needed… if you are a confident crocheter, Grade 6+ (or an approved adult), and wish to help answer questions, give a presentation, teach beginners, or lead an intermediate project, sign up to be a volunteer!

Volunteers, please arrive 15-30 minutes early.

Projects:

  • Beginner – Guided step-by-step instruction on crochet basics.
  • Intermediate – Choose from 100 granny square crochet charts to practice reading, either in the round or rows. Or bring your own pattern you would like help with. Bring your own yarn or use some of ours. Multiple colors of yarn can help with keeping track of different rows in a pattern.
