Pesticide Applicator Training
Training Materials
Applicators can only purchase manuals from the PAT Program Store website. Local Extension offices do not sell manuals.
Each applicant must purchase their own manual, as it contains a Training Registration Form (Proof of Training) that must be submitted on the day of testing.
Training Manual costs $43

- Delivered within 5-10 days at no charge.
- An additional shipping charge applies for rush delivery.
Learning the Material
Self-study:
- Study independently at your own pace.
- A test score of 70% or higher is required to pass.
- You can present your test in person at a designated County Extension Office or online through Pearson VUE.
Self-Paced Online Training:
- Registration cost: $10
- Registration for the course is available at the PAT website: UW PAT Store – Online Training for Private Applicators
- You can present your test in person at a designated County Extension Office or online through Pearson VUE.
- Completion of this course awards reduction of the score required to pass the test.
- A test score of 50% or higher is required to pass.
Extension-hosted Training & Testing (organized and hosted by Regional Crops Educators):
- Registration cost: $10
- Register for the Dane County session at: Dane County in-person training & testing – Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Testing
Pearson VUE Online Testing:
- Tests Fee: $45
