4-H Record Keeping, Awards & Grants
4-H members achieve awesome things every year. Keeping track of what you do in 4-H can help you to talk about your accomplishments with others. Many members keep track of what they did with a 4-H record book and a Program Participation.
This page includes manuals and training materials that explain more about the different ways you can track your accomplishments and apply for awards. See the manual section below.
Youth have the opportunity to apply for many awards and educational travel experiences. The due date for these forms is the Tuesday after Labor Day each year. See below for the forms and applications.

ENDOWMENT GRANT FORMS
Any Dane County 4-H club can apply for a Dane County 4-H Endowment Grant (one per club). Endowment grant funds support 4-H Community Club service learning projects. Grants, up to $500, are awarded to clubs that meet the following criteria:
- Projects that are educational and develop life skills
- Projects that are determined and led by youth with support from adults
- Projects that gather information from the community to ensure that the project is meeting genuine community needs
- Projects that have a lasting, positive impact on the community

Accountability Form for Endowment
- 4-H Service Learning Standards and Best Practice Guide – This guide includes the seven components of a service learning project, as well as examples of strong service learning projects.
- Service Learning: Thinking Beyond Community Service – This resource is filled with worksheets and planning tips that you can use to plan your club’s service learning project.
The Endowment Grant deadline is November 15 each year. Contact 4Hinfo@countyofdane.com with questions.
SCHOLARSHIPS
The Dane County 4-H Scholarship is open to current Dane County 4-H members who are in 12 & 13 grade and received their 4-H Bronze Award. The scholarship deadline is the first Monday in March at 4:30pm. Applications must be in by that time at the Dane County 4-H office.

4-H KEY AWARD
The Wisconsin 4-H Key Award Program is one of the highest recognitions a 4-H member can receive. This award recognizes a select group of 4-H participants who have demonstrated consistent growth in their 4-H involvement, developed and applied their leadership skills, and actively participated in the functions of their 4-H club and community. To be eligible, candidates for this award must be in grade 9 or older, and must have completed at least three years of 4-H and one year of youth leadership.
Dane County 4-H Members who meet the requirements will apply for the Key Award by completing the Member Evaluation (ME) Form. The Key Award is considered a Dane County 4-H Special Award and the application should be submitted to the Dane County 4-H office by your club leader or designee, not individually.
Due Date for Key Award Submission from club leader or designee: On or before 4:30 p.m. on the Tuesday after Labor Day.

EDUCATIONAL TRAVEL EXPERIENCES
4-H Educational Travel Experiences are available and open to all youth based on school grade. Details on the different travel experiences including travel and registration dates can be found in the WI 4-H Programs and Educational Experiences Booklet.
Dane County 4-H Community Club members may apply for funding for travel experiences through the Dane County 4-H Leaders Association. See the Dane County 4-H Educational Experience Funding Award Manual for the different funding application processes and dates.
