
After more than 27 years in Extension leadership, Carrie Edgar, Dane County Extension Director, will retire in early 2026. Carrie has led Dane County Extension since 2010, previously serving 12 years as a County Director with the University of Illinois Extension, and most recently stepped in as Interim Director for Columbia and Sauk counties.
Throughout her tenure, Carrie has been a compassionate leader and steadfast advocate for Extension, fostering partnerships, securing funding, expanding programs, and strengthening connections with UW–Madison and the local community. Her vision ensured programs remained accessible, impactful, and responsive to the needs of Dane County residents.
Reflecting on her career, Carrie said, “It has been an incredible honor to work alongside so many talented colleagues and community partners. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and look forward to seeing Extension’s continued impact.”
We celebrate Carrie’s remarkable contributions and wish her joy and fulfillment in retirement. Her leadership leaves a lasting legacy for Dane County Extension.
