Private Pesticide Applicator testing and certification will be similar to last year.
General Information
Please be aware that County Extension Offices will no longer be sending out notification letters to individuals when their certification is expiring. Certification is good for 5 years; to check on the status of your certification click here. If your certification has expired, you will need to purchase a manual and take the test — more information below.
Manual Sales
All manual sales will be through the UW PAT Program online store, not through local Extension offices. Manuals are $43.
- For the General Farming manual click here.
- For the Fruit Crops manual click here.
- For the Greenhouse & Nursery manual click here.
Training
Manual purchase is required regardless of the training option selected.
- Self-study: training for the test is not required. You are able to schedule a time to come into the Dane County Extension office and take the open-book test; two dates a month are offered from January through April. Please fill out this form to register for a test date. Must score a 70% or better to pass.
- Online: free, self-paced online training that must be completed within 14 days of registration. Upon completion, an email will be sent confirming training was done, therefore awarding a 50% passing grade for the test. Register for online training here. Testing will need to be scheduled separately. For testing at the Dane County Extension office, fill out this form.
- In-person: provided by UW PAT Program staff, with multiple sessions across the state, with a cost of $10. Training will award a 50% passing grade for tests that are taken on-site. For dates and registration click here.
