Join the Jefferson County 4-H Dairy Committee for Dairy Project Learning Day. Engage in hands-on activities designed to ready your dairy project for show day. Professionals from the dairy industry will be available to guide youth during the event.

Who Can Attend:

4-H/FFA/Breed

Association Dairy Project youth of all experience levels participants will be grouped according to skill level. Open to dairy youth located in Dane, Dodge,

Columbia, Jefferson, Rock, and Waukesha Counties. Parents/leaders may accompany students during the workshop.

Planning for the event:

Youth will have the opportunity to practice fitting and showmanship techniques. Animals will be provided. 

8:00 – 9:00 AM — Registration

9:00 – 10:00 AM — Feeding your heifer for the best show day look. Have you ever wondered what you should be feeding your heifer at the fair and on show day? We will literally dive into different kinds of feeds with our hands to get a better understanding.

10:00 AM – 12:30 PM – Clipping. It’s time to buzz off that winter hair and see what our animals look like under all that fuzz.

12:30 – to 1:00 PM – Lunch will be provided 

1:00 – to 3:30 PM – Rotation of Sessions

• Final Touches before you hit the ring: Learn what sprays to use to dial in your calf before she hits the ring
• Showmanship: Time to brush up on your showing skills.
• Parts of a cow: Learn the parts of cow in a fun new way!

 3:30 to 4:00 PM – Q/A and Raffle prizes (ONE BOY AND ONE GIRL WILL BE THE LUCKY WINNER OF CLIPPERS)

What To Bring:
Clippers and fitting supplies (extra equipment will be available)
Proper footwear for working with animals

No entry fees to attend (pre-registration required)
Registration is due by 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 26th.
