Event Description

Join Dane County Parks for an Environmental Fun Fair located on the grounds of our Lussier Family Heritage Center facility. This FREE fun afternoon will be full of hands on activities centered around nature, recreation, and science and have learning opportunities appropriate for all ages.

Activities will include:

🌧️ Rainfall Simulator – Madison Area Municipal Stormwater Partnership

🌻 Prairie Walks – Friends of Capital Springs Recreation Area

🗑️ Mobil Trash Lab – Dane County Waste & Renewables

♻️ Recycling Game – Sustain Dane

☀️ Renewable Energy Info – Dane County Office of Energy & Climate Change

💨 Wind Turbine Design Challenge – Wisconsin Energy Institute

⛰️ Geologic Landforms – Ice Age Trail Alliance

🦋 Native Plants and Pollinators – UW Extension

🐦 Bird and Nature Activities – Madison Friends of Urban Nature (FUN)

🦎 Learn about amphibians and reptiles – Madison Area Herpetological Society

🧪 Hands on STEM activity – Dane County 4H and UW Biotechnology Center

🍓 Fruit and Veggie Hopscotch – Dane County 4H

🍂 Nature Craft on our Lower Patio

🔎 Scavenger Hunt starting at the Lower Patio – check back to get a prize once complete

🏕️ Camping Demo with Sierra Club Four Lakes Group

🔬 Diagnostic Laboratory with Microscope – WI Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory

🎨 Face Painting by Antsy Pants Paints

💡 Discovering Basic Electricity – Wisconsin Science Museum

Activities under both solar shelter, the big oak tree and the lower level of the Center. Parking is available at the Heritage Center and across the road at the Capital City Trail/Lower Yahara River Trail Trailhead (3102 Lake Farm Road).

Spanish interpreters will be on site and available to help where needed.
