Dr. Heidi Johnson has been named as the new Agriculture Institute Director for the Division of Extension. Heidi had been serving as the interim director since February of 2019 and took over as permanent director on September 1, 2019.
Prior to her interim director role, Heidi served as the Crops & Soils Educator in Dane County for the past six years where she took a leadership role in coordinating and developing educational resources for farmers in the area of soil and water conservation. Heidi was well known and respected by Dane County farmers, colleagues and Ag business as being a strong advocate and helpful educator. Prior to joining to Dane County Extension, she worked as the Agriculture Educator for Jefferson County for four years. Heidi has a PhD in horticulture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and has done extensive work in the areas of cover crops and soil health.
